Volunteer!
Host an Event!

is a community-wide day of service that aims to provide opportunities for people of all ability levels and interests to get involved. We’re giving out free “Be the Difference” tee shirts to participants to let everyone know that they are a part of something special. This effort is being funded through grants and donations, so there is no cost to participate.

The goal of Be the Difference Day is to raise the profile of community organizations, volunteerism and service. No one “owns” this day; it is a model of cooperation and community spirit. It is not designed to promote any particular organization, agenda, or group.
“To kick off this awesome event, Be the Difference Day will be featured at Third Friday in downtown Salisbury on Friday, April 21st. There will be a Be the Difference Day information booth and we will provide project hosts an opportunity to showcase their causes and organizations.

Signing up to host an event or volunteer is being coordinated though the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore’s new Get Connected site. This site helps organizations get the word out about their volunteer needs and helps people learn about and sign up for volunteer opportunities that fit their interests, skills, and availability. Sign ups are easy and free. It only takes a moment to set up your profile and then you can post needs or sign up to volunteer as an individual or a group. If you need any help with navigating the Get Connected site, contact the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore’s offices at 410-742-5143
